Program Acceptance:

The Florida Dance Festival is an inclusive program open to all, age 12 and older. No auditions are required for acceptance. The curriculum is geared to professionals and serious students with a minimum of two to three years of progressive training.

A Note for Parents:

While the Festival accepts serious students as young as 12 years of age, parents should be aware that the program is not a camp and does not provide counselors or supervision for students under age 18. Students under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult or attend as a member of a group with an adult supervisor who will be responsible for them at all times.

The Festival is held in sunny South Florida, in the beautiful and exotic cities of Miami and Miami Beach. Festival classes and workshops are held at New World School of the Arts, 25 NE 2nd Street, in downtown Miami, a short walk from each of the recommended downtown hotels. Most evening performances are held at the Colony Theater, located on Miami Beach's famed Lincoln Road Mall, which is noted for its shops, galleries, sidewalk cafés and restaurants, theaters and colorful nightlife. South Florida's rich blend of cultures and tropical setting make it an ideal vacation destination. Participants are invited to bring their family and friends and also enjoy the many activities and attractions such as the renowned Viscaya Museum and Gardens, the Museum of Science and Space Planetarium, Sea World, Miami Art Museum, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, the steamy Florida Everglades and more.

Transportation:

Two major airports serve the South Florida area. Miami International Airport (MIA) is 20-minutes from downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is a 45-minute drive from Miami. Both airports are served by Super Shuttle service. Call for fare information and reservations. Taxi service is also available from both airports. Taxi fare will be considerably more expensive from the Fort Lauderdale airport.

The following airline companies have offered discounted fares to participants traveling to the Florida Dance Festival. Sharing a room with friends can reduce hotel costs to as little as $18-$25 per person, per night including tax.

Roommate Registry:

The Festival's Roommate Registry connects individuals who wish to share the cost of hotel expenses. The provision of this service does not guarantee a roommate. Call in Miami-Dade for information.

Meals:

All meals are at the participant's expense. Most Festival hotels have an on_site restaurant; operating hours may vary. We recommend you check with the hotel when you arrive to confirm serving hours. The downtown Miami area offers several fast_food and full-service restaurants, and nearby Miami Beach, Coral Gables and Coconut Grove offer a myriad of restaurant choices from very reasonable to very expensive. A list of local restaurants will be provided in your registration materials.
